Esther Pauline Ritter-Buchter, 94, of Pontiac, IL, formerly of Blue Mound, IL passed away on Wednesday (Feb. 1, 2012) at Evenglow Inn, Pontiac, IL.

A service to celebrate Esther’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 4, 2012) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound. Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg, IL, Blue Mound Lions Club or OSF Hospice in Pontiac, IL.

Esther was born on September 23, 1917 in Curran, IL, the daughter of Rudolf and Minnie (Dieck) Schroll. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edinburg, IL and an honorary member of the Blue Mound Lions Club. She was a cook for the Blue Mound High School and enjoyed catering. She won the Governor’s Trophy for Culinary at the 1968 Illinois State Fair. Esther married John Ritter on February 12, 1939. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1977. She then married Dellas Buchter on February 26, 1985. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2001.

Surviving is her son: Richard (Carol) Ritter of Flanagan, IL; daughter-in-law: Diane (Laverne) Ritter Malone of Maroa, IL; brother: Harold (Barb) Schroll of Chatham, IL; sister: Margaret Lindell of New Richmond, WI, Ann (George) Klemaier of Edmonds, WA; grandchildren: Kraig (Kelly) Ritter, Kristi (Bob) Dahlke, Matthew (Megan) Ritter, David Ritter; great grandchildren: Hannah Ritter, Jairon Ritter, Charlie Ritter, Daniel Dahlke, Patrick Dahlke, Caroline Dahlke, Jackson Ritter, Cole Ritter; three step-children; five step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son: Robert Ritter, brother: Norman Schroll, twin-sister: Elsie Buchter.
